Unacquainted, an introduction and retrospect of Akito’s musical influences, is available to purchase digitally on the 18th March and includes Original Vocal Mix, Instrumental Mix and Visionist Remix.
Akito Hearnshaw is a 26 year old beat maker and DJ based in North West London.
He started out programming Grime, later House and UK Funky which remain significant influences on his current productions and DJ sets.
Unacquainted takes a dancehall dub-plate acapella from Akito’s early days of DJing and blends with a stripped back drum groove made with layers of 808 kicks, reverberated claps, snares, filtered percussion lines and underlying field recordings.
The Sub Skank label’s second release has 92 Points label boss Louis “Visionist” Carnell on remix duty who further chops and changes the pace of the vocal over his signature sound of percussive elements, introducing square wave synth bass lines and strings - showing the strength of the Grime influence within his productions.
Visionist gained recognition in 2011 through initial support from DJ Oneman with tunes like Come In and Mr.67. Since then his reputation and success have grown with several releases on Keysound Recordings, Signal Life and his own 92 Points imprint. Visionist blends different genres together but the predominant sound is Grime, the genre of his early music.
Akito is one third of London based record label and club night Sub Skank and Pyramid Scheme with CDNephew and D Warrior, and is responsible for the label and club night’s visual art work. Sub Skank is a collective which started as a radio show and developed into regular London club nights providing a platform for unsung producers & DJs. The label aims to carry the same ethos as the club night and put forth forward-thinking dance-floor-conscious music.
Simply put, club pressure from the future happening right now! With a glut of producers popping up all around the world getting lumped under the 'weightless/post-club/whatever' tag 'Acheron' truly stands out as an exceptional release, and I think SHALT could definitely be a producer to watch over the next few years. Stand out EP this one. Source Invisible
Caos and Harmony coexist if they go hand by hand with Melody. Becoming N(one) could be a dream that becomes a nightmare, galactic sounds that mix together until they create a cold, eerie ambient that sucks you up till the end. Masterpiece. 9.7/10 Liber
